Biography
Dr. Susan C. Knight is a clinical psychologist with a specialization in forensic psychology, and is board certified in Forensic Psychology through the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP). She specializes in criminal and civil forensic psychological evaluations including the assessment of legal competencies, criminal responsibility and mental state defenses, violence risk assessment, sexual offender risk assessment, sexually violent predator evaluations, mitigation and sentencing evaluations, and fitness for duty evaluations.
Dr. Knight is presently employed in private psychological practice wherein she conducts criminal and civil forensic evaluations for private and public legal entities, provides consultation to the federal, state and county court systems, and teaches at local law and medical schools. She completed an internship in forensic and correctional psychology at the Federal Medical Center in Butner, NC, with the United States Department of Justice. Subsequently, she completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Forensic Psychology within the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Southern California, Keck School of Medicine, in Los Angeles, CA.
Dr. Knight holds a Clinical Assistant Professor position in Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Medical University of South Carolina, and holds an adjunct faculty position at the Charleston School of Law.
