Biography
Joseph Callery is a New York State Assistant Attorney General with the Syracuse Regional Office. His practice primarily involves the defense of medical malpractice actions against the State University of New York Upstate Medical University Hospital and individually named health professionals.
Before joining the Attorney General’s staff, he was an Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of New York who practiced in New York City as a prosecutor and a medical malpractice defense attorney. He also served as a tort defense attorney in New York City and as a managing attorney for the in-house law firm of an insurance company.
In addition to his legal career, Mr. Callery serves on the Board of Directors of the Onondaga County Bar Association, is Chairman of the CLE Committee of the OCBA, is co-President of the Upstate Child Care Center and Co-President of the FM Education Foundation. He has also served on the executive committee of the Tort Insurance and Compensation Law Section of the New York State Bar Association.
Mr. Callery has presented at numerous professional conferences on topics which have included Law Firm Management, NY State No-Fault Law, Medical Malpractice, Litigation Management, Premises Liability and Trucking liability.
