Biography
Jonathan Wood retired from the position of Tompkins County Attorney after serving the County for twenty-eight years. As County Attorney he was chief legal counsel to the County Legislature and more than thirty-five county departments. During that time, he also served as Lead Counsel to Municipal Electric & Gas Alliance (MEGA)for over twenty years. MEGA is a not-for-profit corporation that provides energy services and acts as an aggregator of demand for electricity and natural gas on behalf of hundreds of municipalities. Since retiring, Jonathan serves as a hearing officer for County Health Departments.
Prior to joining the County, Jonathan was an Associate at Whiteman, Osterman & Hanna in Albany, where he assisted clients on environmental matters, including solid waste and recycling issues. He has spoken on numerous municipal and environmental issues and previously taught in the business school at Ithaca College.
Jonathan graduated from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and the Cornell Law School. Upon graduation from Law School in 1986, he clerked for the Honorable W. Earl Britt, then Chief Judge of the Eastern District of North Carolina.
